All-American Burger
All-American Burger

Ingredients:

 

Pattie:

 

500 g

Pork Lean Mince

2 cloves

garlic, crushed

7 ml

chilli powder

10 ml

paprika

5 ml

cayenne powder

15 ml

balsamic vinegar

5 ml

salt

7 ml

freshly ground black pepper

5 ml

dried oregano

5 ml

ground cumin

Prawns:

prawns, peeled & par-cooked (4 for each burger)

1 clove

garlic, minced

splash

extra virgin olive oil

pinch

salt

1

lemon

Paprika Mayo:

 

45 ml

mayonnaise

15 ml

tomato paste

10 ml

paprika

5 ml

mustard

1

lemon, juiced

To Serve:

 

4

burger buns, toasted

125 ml

grated mozzarella cheese

125 ml

red onion, sliced

 

fresh baby spinach or salad leaves

Method:

Prep the patties:

  1. Mix all the ingredients together until well combined. Cover with plastic wrap and let sit in the fridge for at least 1 hour, or even overnight.

Prep the prawns:

  1. Toss the prawns in the garlic and olive oil and squeeze the juice of the lemon into the mix. Cover and refrigerate.

  2. When you are ready to cook the prawns use some olive oil and pan fry on high-heat until cooked and golden.

Prep the paprika mayo:

  1. Mix all the ingredients together well and set aside.

To make the burger:

  1. Divide the pattie mix into 4 equal portions. Pan fry over medium heat, turning the patties until they are browned on all sides.

  2. Pour a splash of water into the pan and cover, leaving the patties to steam for about 15 minutes until cooked through.

  3. To finish the patties divide the grated cheese into 4 portions and cover each pattie with cheese while on the pan. Cover for a further 5 minutes, until the cheese has melted.

  4. Serve the burgers on your toasted buns with the onions, salad leaves, mayo and prawns. Add a side salad or some good old potato wedges and you’re good to go!
